Man rescued from roof in Ribbleton

Firefighters were called to bring a man down from a roof in Ribbleton on Sunday afternoon.

Crews, along with Lancashire Police, were called to the junction of Acregate Lane and Canterbury Road.

The incident took place around 2pm and saw a man sat on chimney stacks and threatening to throw himself from the roof.

He was talked down by the emergency services and brought to safety by Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.

The road was closed for around an hour while the incident unfolded.
