Online applications for a child’s place in a Lancashire school will open on September 1.
Advertisement97% of parents chose to apply online last year, with the system proving to be very popular.
County Councillor Matthew Tomlinson, cabinet member for children, young people and schools, encourages parents to use the site as early as possible, “Unfortunately some applications come in late every year and these simply can’t be considered at the same time as those we receive on time.
“So, it is much better to be prepared early rather than rushing your application close to the deadline. This way there is time to spare to sort out any problems or get any advice.”
He also added that it is important to apply for a space for your child, even if they have a brother or sister in the school as this does not guarantee a place automatically.
The closing date for secondary school applications is October 31 2015 and the primary school closing date is January 15 2016.
Helplines will be set up for any questions or advice. Parents in the Preston area should call 01772 532191 or 01772 532190.
