The Big Pedal: Road closures announced around Winckley Square

Roads throughout Preston city centre are to be closed and the one-way system around Winckley Square suspended for a big bike ride.

The Big Pedal comes to the city on Sunday and a number of road closures are planned.

Lancashire County Council will shut the following roads from 9am to 4pm on the day.

Avenham Colonnade
Camden Place
Chapel Street
Regent Street
Winckley Square North
Winckley Square East
Winckley Square South

Part closures
Avenham Lane – from the junction with Bairstow Street to junction with Ribblesdale Place
Back Starkie Street – at junction with Winckley Square
Cross Street – at junction with Winckley Square East
Ribblesdale Place – from junction with Winckley Square to junction with Avenham Lane
Winckley Square – from juction with Chapel Street to junction with Ribblesdale Place
Winckley Street – at junction with Winckley Square North

Motorists trying to get through from Avenham Lane will be diverted into Queen Street, onto the A6 London Road, then Stanley Street, Ring Way and then Corporation Street.

The one way restrictions are temporarily suspended on:

East Cliff Road – from a point 25 metres north of junction with East Cliff to junction with Garden Street
Garden Street – from junction with Winckley Square to junction with Mount Street
Garden Street – from junction with East Cliff Road to junction with Mount Street
Mount Street – full length
Regent Street – full length
Starkie Street – full length
Winckley Square North – full length
Winckley Square East – full length
Winckley Square – full length
Winckley Street – full length
