A limited edition run of watercolour prints featuring Preston’s lunatic doom-mongers, Evil Blizzard, were snapped up within an hour. Fans went crazy over the collectable cards which depict band members in their grisly attire. The band, which consists of four bass players, a singing drummer, a meat cleaver wielding pig and a masked mop man, were said to be secretly delighted. Artist Laura Hunt was initially drawn to the band’s gruesome looking pig-man.

“The thought of taking these slightly grotesque masks and turning them into something adorable really appealed to me,” the artist said. “It seems almost obscene to make them look so cute but the idea of it made me laugh.”

Laura is no stranger to capturing bands with her paint brush. She has previously painted Yorkshire rockers Embrace and looks set to continue marrying her work with music, “I am looking forward to drawing a great many more Embrace-based pictures. And I’ve been told that there are about 50 more Evil Blizzard bassists I have to paint too…”

Evil Blizzard are taking their bass-fuelled mayhem to the road this Autumn to promote their second album Everybody Come to Church. Dates include a night at London’s legendary 100 Club and what should be a suitably macabre album launch at Preston’s new Blitz venue on Halloween. Tracks from the album are already picking up plays on Gideon Coe’s 6 music show.

The promo video for the band’s Are Your Evil?, taken from the second album, was filmed and directed by Dominic Brunt (Paddy from Emmerdale).
