A bus service to Moor Nook has been cut back with an earlier last bus.
AdvertisementThe Number 9, operated by Stagecoach, will now run until 9.15pm instead of 11.15pm.
Rob Jones, operations director at Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire, said: “We pay close attention to our passenger usage patterns and are committed to running the most effective, efficient service possible. As such, we regularly monitor our routes to ensure we are meeting passenger requirements.
“Our research showed that this particular late evening service was poorly used and carried very few passengers, so we took the decision to cease the service at 9pm. This change came into effect on July 26th.
“There are alternative later buses up to 11pm to New Hall Lane and Moor Nook provided by other companies for anyone who needs a later service.”
Ribbleton councillor Jonathan Saksena, who has the Number 9 route running through his ward, was concerned by the reduction in service.
He said: “Not a good idea. A lot depends on whether Preston Bus keep the Number 8 Mook Nook service going late as it follows much of the same route on the estate itself though it goes a different way to get there.
“Nevertheless, if the late Number 9 is axed, Ribble Village and Miller Road area will be without a bus service in the late evenings and this won’t be good.”
