Mac’s bar’s future remains on a knife edge this weekend as councillors consider what sanctions, if any, to impose.

A second day of evidence was heard in the Town Hall as tempers began to flare in a stuffy and hot committee room.

Three former door staff gave their evidence about the bar they used to work at.

CCTV footage was shown in which a patron of Macs was struck in the face and knocked unconscious, with the member of door staff accused of the assault saying it was self defence as the man had a knife.

Macs bar management, both past and present, also gave evidence with current director of the bar Andrew Macdonald giving an impassioned plea to keep the bar open.

Below is a blow by blow account as the evidence unfolded. The committee is currently deliberating and a decision is likely to be announced on Monday.
