A quarter of a million pounds is to be spent bringing in cycle tracks to replace pavements in Deepdale and Moor Park.
AdvertisementFour new sections of cycle track are to be added in Blackpool Road, Sir Tom Finney Way and Flintoff Way.
Lancashire County Council’s cabinet member for highways and transport, councillor John Fillis, has approved the plans.
The four sections are:
– A section of Blackpool Road on its north side from the junction with Sir Tom Finney Way, westwards, for a distance of 422 metres – running adjacent to Moor Park
– A section on the west side of Sir Tom Finney Way heading north for seven metres
– A section of Sir Tom Finney Way on the east side from 11 metres north of the junction with Blackpool Road heading north for 140 metres
– A section of Flintoff Way from the junction with Sir Tom Finney Way heading eastwards for a distance of 57 metres
Members of the public retain right of way on foot across all the cycle tracks.
Funding for the project comes from a 2009 agreement with a developer creating retail units in Flintoff Way.
The traffic lights at the junction of Blackpool Road and Sir Tom Finney Way are also due to see improvements.
