A doctors surgery in Preston is preparing to move a quarter of a mile down the road after a ten year wait for new premises.
AdvertisementDoclands Surgery in Blanche Street had its current building branded as “not fit for purpose” in 2005.
Surgery staff say they are struggling to accommodate patients and the services they need to provide for 6,755 patients within its catchment area in Ashton-on-Ribble.
Plans have been lodged to demolish the John T Barker car showroom in Tulketh Brow and create a new two-storey health centre.
The new health centre would be able to provide better mental health support, screening and extended opening hours.
The full plans can be viewed on the Preston City Council website.
Anyone wishing to comment can do so on the city council website or by emailing devcon@preston.gov.uk by Wednesday 8 July quoting reference 06/2015/0459.
