A help line for the Chinese community has been set up by Lancashire Police and local Chinese groups to provide an information service.

Groups from both Preston and Blackpool are involved in the service which is designed to increase trust, engagement and trust between the Chinese and Police communities.

The service is available between 10am and 8pm daily and is staffed by trained volunteers who speak Mandarin.  Anyone calling the helpline will have the opportunity to ask for help on community issues and crime and volunteers answering calls have received training on specific areas of policing.

The number to call to use this service is 01772 209988. It is urged for people to recognise that this service, which launched this week, is not a replacement for 999 which is to be used in emergencies.
