The Range, a chain of stores which now has around 100 shops nationwide, has taken what was the Homebase building in the Queen Street Retail Park.

The shop stocks home furniture, garden accessories, pet food and kits and many more products.

Chris Dawson, owner of The Range chain, said around 100 part-time and full-time staff were needed to run the store.

He said: “We are a fast growing company and I am confident that The Range Preston will play an important role in our expansion.

“I would personally like to thank the council for welcoming us and being so supportive and I look forward to inviting the people of Preston down to see what we are all about.”

The Queen Street Retail Park is due for expansion in the coming years as plans are starting to be tabled for the creation of a supermarket among other new retail units on the site which has sat empty for more than a decade.
