Rockprest is coming to the city on July 4 and 5.

The presence of a music festival in the city is great news for some, especially a free event.

However some were quick to question the event, saying that they would take issue if it was funded by Preston Council.

The original post that led to the discussion has now been deleted, but it led to a huge discussion about the festival from several prominent members of Preston’s musical community.

Rockprest moved quick to quash the debate.

They said: “Rockprest is part of UK Tribute Festivals and we are a totally independent organisation.

“Preston Council have simply given us permission to hold the event, they certainly have not give us any funding.

“We have been running an event called Festwich in Prestwich for the last 3 years and decided to take the Festival to Preston.”

The festival is funded by the sale of VIP tickets as well as through sponsorship and other sources.

Tickets are on sale now (£0+booking fee) from here.
