The deadline for anyone wanting to stand to be a councillor in Preston is this Thursday.
19 wards across the city will see an election for a new councillor.
Labour currently holds control at the Town Hall, with 32 out of 57 councillors.
Wards with a council seat up for an election include:

Deepdale
Garrison
Greyfriars
Ingol
Larches
Lea
Moor Park
Preston Rural East
Preston Rural North
Ribbleton
Riversway
Sharoe Green
St Matthew’s
Town Centre
Tulketh
University
The councillor seats up for election are the seats last contested in May 2011. This was the local election when Labour won control of the city council after a period of 12 years of no overall control, with a Conservative and Liberal Democrat informal coalition.
Three wards have no election taking place, they are:
Cadley
Fishwick
St George’s
To stand as a councillor you need to hand in nomination papers to the Returning Officer, Town Hall, Lancaster Road, Preston, Lancashire, PR1 2RL by 4pm on Thursday 9 April.
To register to vote you need to check you’re on the electoral roll by going to the About My Vote website and entering your details.
