Recycling Lives Preston fire: 80 firefighters battling major blaze

Approximately 80 fire fighters are tackling a major fire at the Preston Recycling Lives complex at Red Scar Industrial Estate.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service deputy chief fire officer Justin Johnston confirmed a major operation was underway to battle the fire.

He said in a tweet 15 fire engines were on the scene.

A video has been posted on Facebook showing the fire.

The BBC’s Steve Saul has also broadcast a live video from the scene.

The fire is believed to have started around 9.30pm on Thursday.

Patrick Kiernan sent us these photos of the fire at around 11.40pm on Friday, taken near Rowan Scrap Metals.
