Dates for this year’s Preston Guild City Games have been announced.
AdvertisementBusinesses across Preston take part in a variety of sports for three weekends in the city.
Saturday 6 June is the main day of sporting action with archery, cycling, football, netball, rounders and ultimate frisbee at the UCLan Sports Arena in Tom Benson Way.
The St Catherine’s Hospice Moonlight and Memories Walk now takes place as part of the City Games.
Now in its 30th year the walk takes place around the hospice grounds in Lostock Hall.
Friday 12 June is the golf competition at Ashton and Lea Golf Club in Tudor Avenue, Lea.
Saturday 13 June sees action move to the Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre in Marsh Lane with badminton, basketball, table tennis and a team fitness challenge.
Sunday 12 July sees the annual dragon boat racing at Preston Docks plys the closing ceremony of the Games.
Cabinet member for culture and leisure, councillor Veronica Afrin, said: “I’m very excited that the City Games is now an annual event in Preston.
“Working with our partners ensures the use of world class facilities for the City Games along with business networking opportunities to get the message out to organisations.
“Get your business into shape and join us, there’s something for everyone.”
