Fire crews in Preston have urged those using Chinese lanterns to be careful after one caused a fire at a home in Ingol.

Play equipment including a trampoline was destroyed in the early hours of Sunday morning when a lantern landed on it.

Firefighters were called to the house in Thistlecroft shortly after 2.30am.

Mark Woodward, Preston fire station manager, said a family had a lucky escape after the blaze ripped through the equipment.
