A consultation event on a proposal to spend £500,000 in Broughton is to be held on Saturday.
AdvertisementFrom 9am to 12noon on Saturday 21 March villagers can give their views to Lancashire County Council.
The event at Broughton and District Club in Whittingham Lane will have plans on display about the county council’s half-a-million pound plan for the village.
Money is being ploughed in to improve cycle lanes, local roads and more alongside the Broughton Bypass scheme.
County Councillor John Fillis, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “One of the conditions of planning permission for the bypass is to make improvements in Broughton along the A6 to reflect the reduction in traffic levels and encourage through-traffic to use the bypass rather than go through the village.
“We’re proposing to improve the environment in Broughton village by changing the layout of the Woodplumpton Lane junction, and give more space to pedestrians and cyclists in a way that is more in keeping with a quieter village centre.
“I’d encourage everyone to have their say when the consultation takes place to help us shape the designs.”
