Swimmers from The Coppice School scooped an impressive handful of awards at this year’s SPAR Lancashire School Games Disability Swimming Gala.
Advertisement14 primary and secondary schools across Lancashire participated, but The Coppice School in Bamber Bridge brought home a total of five medals, with two of those being gold.
The gold were awarded for length swimming, with the remaining three to freestyle, relay and an egg, flip and wobble race.
The Disability Swimming Gala aims to provide over 250 pupils the chance to have fun and compete and the games scheme is now the biggest in the country of its kind as it concludes its ninth year.
Salt Ayre Leisure Centre hosted the event, and Kevin Loughran, School Games Organiser for South Ribble said, “The Disability Swimming Gala marks an exciting year for fully inclusive sport in Lancashire. The event has been designed to ensure each child is challenged in a fun way.
“It was fantastic to see such high levels of sportsmanship and team spirit. A huge congratulations to everyone involved.”
