Jon Macken has signed a contract with Bamber Bridge Football Club.
The PNE legend was announced as the latest signing by Bamber Bridge at a fitting time, as Preston North End prepare to face another of his former clubs in Walsall.
Macken joins another PNE legend in Paul McKenna in playing at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium.
He joined PNE in 1997 from Manchester United, scoring 63 goals in 189 appearances before being sold to Manchester City for what was a club record of £5 million.
This move came after Macken famously scored from the halfway line for PNE in a 2-1 victory over Kevin Keegan’s Manchester City.
He also scored 21 goals in 76 appearances for Walsall.
