More than 150 new homes which would contribute a major extension to a village on the edge of Preston are facing a fierce backlash.
AdvertisementGrimsargh Parish Council has hit back with a eight-point criticism of Gladman Homes plan to build a major new development in the village.
Parish councillors have written to planning officers warning the proposal would “bring about considerable harm to the existing character and appearance of the village.”
In the 22-page document they warn the number of cars leaving and arriving at the development during peak hours would be far higher than Gladman Homes’ estimate of 69 – saying 120 vehicles would be leaving the new homes, triggering a gridlock in the village heading towards the M6.
Councillors also say primary schools in the village are already at bursting point and would not be able to cope with an influx of additional pupils.
