The A582 through South Ribble is a key route in the Preston road network and Lancashire County Council want to widen it.

From Cuerden to Preston city centre would become two lanes either way as well as a section of Flensburg Way towards Longmeanygate in Leyland.

Work has already been done on the Chain House Lane junction and on Golden Way in Penwortham. Roadworks have also begun at the Cuerden roundabout.

A consultation on the proposed A582 widening starts from Monday 2 February with a number of open public meetings and exhibitions.
