Where Stocks Road meets Blackpool Road is a busy junction in Preston

A section of Blackpool Road was been closed due to a crash.

Lancashire Police said a man has been hit by a car at Lane Ends, Ashton-on-Ribble.

The incident took place around 10.10am on Saturday and the man was treated in the street for head injuries.

A passer-by was said to have rushed into the road after the man was hit to administer first aid.

Named locally only as Joe the man is now in a stable condition in hospital but is described as “not well”.

Vikkie Bamber, who was driving past the area, said: “There’s a number of police and ambulance in the area. Traffic was building up when we passed.”
