Preston MP Mark Hendrick has demanded action after images of local children were taken from Facebook and posted for paedophiles on a Russian website.

He has called upon Foreign Minister Philip Hammond and Home Secretary Theresa May to take steps to resolve the situation.

He said in a statement: “I am absolutely appalled that sick individuals are using images innocently posted by proud parents and using them on a website that encourages users to post comments of a sexual nature.

“I am calling upon the Home Secretary,Theresa May and Foreign Minister, Philip Hammond to look urgently into this situation and have the site shut down as soon as possible.

“I have also demanded an immediate investigation and the Foreign Secretary to call an urgent meeting with the Russian Ambassador to prevent this from happening again.

“In the meantime, I am urging Preston constituents to ensure that they update their privacy settings on their social media profiles to prevent further incidences.”

Preston parents were appalled at the weekend when they discovered images of their own children posted online with disgusting comments from users from across the globe.
