Toaster catches fire at Ribbleton home on Christmas Day

Some mid-afternoon toast didn’t go to plan at a Preston home on Christmas Day.

A toaster at a property on Hatfield Road, Ribbleton, went up in flames shortly before 2.30pm.

A spokeswoman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said: “There was some fire damage to the toaster and some light heat damage to a nearby cupboard.

“There was some moderate smoke damage to the ground and first floor of the property.”
