A group of residents are celebrating winning a cash grant to buy new play equipment for a Fulwood park.
AdvertisementThe Sharoe Green and Sherwood Community Association scooped £10,000 from the Awards For All to buy a hip-hop gyro-spiral piece of kit.
It will go in the junior play area at the newly renovated Levensgarth Park.
Nigel Parker, chairman of the association, said: “This is a cross between a two person see-saw and an aerial roundabout. In addition the grant will fund a second trampoline and together these two now complete phase one of this ambitious project.
“It is hoped to have the additional equipment in place by the end of February. Fund raising towards phase two, which will include a toddler play area, more paths, gardens and seating will commence in the New Year and the Association is actively seeking help from parents and residents to enable them to bring this to fruition.”
The park has seen major works completed by Preston City Council during the Autumn as funding was given to the council to carry out the work – after years of campaigning by local residents to have the park improved.
