A59 accident: Driver in serious condition in hospital after smash

A Samlesbury man is in a serious condition in hospital after a crash on the A59 on Thursday.

Police are appealing for witnesses when a Vauxhall Corsa travelling from Preston to Clitheroe lost control around Clayton le Dale and collided with a lamp post.

The driver, a 21 year old man, has suffered serious head, chest and spleen injuries.

Police closed the road from 11.30pm for four hours.

Sergeant Mick Young, of the Road Policing Unit said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident or the car in the moments before it occurred to get in touch with us.”
