Plungington smash causes rush hour delays

Rush hour traffic was delayed in the Plungington area on Wednesday morning due to a crash.

North West Ambulance Service treated a woman on the scene while Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service made the site of the collision at Aqueduct Street and St Georges Road safe.

Lancashire Police were called at 6.53am to reports of the collision involving two cars.

Eyewitnesses have reported a second crash at the junction of Blackpool Road and Brook Street around 8am.

One motorist is said to have been taken away on a stretcher after the incident. Police confirmed this was a 25 yea rold woman who is in hospital.

A 29 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following the Brook Street incident.

Preston Bus said major delays had been occurring to the 23 bus service between Fulwood and the city centre due to the incident.
