A climbing festival for young people comes to Preston on Saturday and Sunday.

Children of all climbing abilities between the ages of eight and 16 can take part in different climbing skills workshops.
Councillor Veronica Afrin, cabinet member for culture and leisure, said: “We are fortunate to have one of the best climbing walls in the country right here in Preston.
“The festival is a great opportunity for young people to try something new or develop their skills, and also to get out of the house, meet people and spend time with friends.
“This is always a popular event and we are expecting even more people than ever before to come down and get involved.”
Bouldering, top roping, abseiling and other skills are learned during the Saturday of the climbing festival before a climbing competition takes place on the Sunday. A prize giving ceremony is at 4pm on Sunday.
It costs £30 per child for two days to take part or £20 for one day.
The festival is sponsored by outdoors store Cotswold and the entry forms need to be filled in by Wednesday 19 November via the city council website.
