A major roadworks scheme on the M6 is due to be finished two months behind schedule.
AdvertisementBroughton interchange at Junction 32 is seeing lane widening where the M6 joins the M55.
The Highways Agency had advised the £7 million works were due to finish on Friday 7 November, but this has now slipped to January.
It comes as M6 southbound and northbound work at Junction 31 finishes, which has contributed to gridlock in and around Preston for the last fortnight.
The widening works at Broughton are to create a third lane northwards on the M6.
Changes are being made to the M55 two lane exit, but it remains at two lanes. The M55 entry to the M6 northbound is also seeing changes but stays as tow lanes.
New overhead sign gantries are being erected.
Numerous overnight closures have taken place since the roadworks at Junction 32 began in May.
