What many a Prestonian has known for a long, long, soggy time – Preston is one of the wettest places in Britain.
AdvertisementData released by the Met Office shows 103.36 centimetres of rain fall in the city each year, third only to Cardiff and Glasgow.
This makes Preston officially the wettest city or town in England.
Neighbours Blackpool see only 88cms of rain in comparison.
Preston also spends near every other day with some form of rainfall, as 153 days a year have seen rain. This is more than the British average of 151.
The climate figures, analysed by the Trinity Mirror Data Unit, run from 1981 to 2010.
It confirms the long-held suspicion that you should NEVER attend any sort of outdoor event in Preston without an umbrella or rain jacket.
You can see the full data below and sort the table to see how Preston compares to elsewhere.
And in true Preston fashion, the weather forecast for Saturday and Sunday is rain on both days or overcast.
