M6 northbound near Preston: Serious accident causes long tailbacks

There were heavy delays northbound on the M6 beyond Junction 31.

The Highways Agency say a serious accident near Junction 32, Broughton, saw two lanes closed when a car crashed into the central reservation.

Police released two lanes of traffic shortly after 7pm, and at 7.50pm re-opened all lanes to traffic from Junction 32 onwards. Normal traffic conditions returned around 9.15pm on Friday.

Lancashire Fire Service attended the accident just after 4pm involving a number of vehicles. The lane closures are due to be in place for “some hours”.
