St George’s Shopping Centre hosted Preston Fashion Live on Friday – the first event of its name for the city.
Four fashion shows took place, showcasing fashion from various retailers including Marks and Spencers, Topshop and Yours.
The event was hosted in conjunction with Smooth radio. Lizzy Holroyd from the station said: “Smooth radio has a strong partnership with the city of Preston as a whole. We have worked with them on a number of events including the Christmas lights switch on.
“We have worked with the shopping centre a few times. We were approached by the shopping centre. The shopping centre wanted to bring together all of the retailers.”
She went on to explain that it is not exclusive to St George’s, and talked about a similar event held at Fishergate Shopping Centre earlier in the year.
She said: “It is to show some of the great things you can buy here in the city of Preston.
“I want to go out and go shopping now!”
Jo Lloyd, also from Smooth Radio presented the catwalks and began by admiring the inspiration in the autumn and winter collections.
Various models sported the different retail outlets, with hair by Supercuts and make-up by The Body Shop.
At the end of the event two competition winners for The Face of Preston were also announced.
Annabelle Turner and Phill Thompson claimed their title after being approached by the Smooth radio street team, and had their photograph taken holding a sign. Each won £100 shopping vouchers for the shopping centre.
Alanna Dent, organiser and marketing manager at St. George’s said, “It’s something we should be doing for our shoppers and visitors each season and so we hope the success of Preston Fashion Live will prompt further events with even more of Preston’s retailers benefitting.”
