A Fulwood park is currently undergoing an overhaul to create a brand new playground.
AdvertisementLevensgarth Park in Sharoe Green is having £43,000 spent on improving the facilities for children.
It follows years of campaigning by local residents calling for the park to be brought up to scratch.
Nigel Parker, chairman of the Sharoe Green and Sherwood Community Association, said it was great to see the work finally taking place.
He said: “After three years of hard work and fund raising, the Sharoe Green & Sherwood Community Association saw the earthmovers and drainage cutters move onto Levensgarth Park to commence work on phase one of a long dreamed project to completely revamp the park and install a state of the art children’s play area.
“The Association is extremely grateful to all who contributed with funds, work and hard effort and of course all the main grant providers. The Association worked closely with Preston City Council Parks and LCC to bring this exciting project to fruition. It will take several weeks to complete phase 1 in its entirety and to make it available for use but the Association’s park committee and residents have a great reason to celebrate today.”
The work is due to be completed by the end of October.
