A supermarket has appealed to the planning inspector over a decision not to allow it to extend its Sunday opening times.

The Morrisons Local on Blackpool Road, Ashton on Ribble, currently opens from 10am to 4pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Councillors on Preston City Council’s planning committee refused the supermarket’s application to open from 7am to 10pm at the July planning meeting.

They listed increased levels of noise and disturbance to local residents as the reason for refusal.

A decision is expected from the planning inspector in mid September.
