A Preston nightclub has celebrated its first birthday under a new name.

Evoque on Church Street saw 1,700 punters party the Saturday night away with the venue.

Business development manager Luke Mather said turnout was strong: “The night was better than expected. To have such a number of people turn up after the bank holiday weekend was fantastic.

“The team at Evoque from bar staff, promo staff and management worked extremely hard to fill the night with content and ensure we delivered a party that everyone expected, rather than it be just another night out.

“We had great feedback on our Facebook and twitter page regarding the atmosphere, acts and music. We have set the pace we now want to keep in the run up to Christmas and the new year.”

Radio 1 Extra DJs were on hand to provide the entertainment and keep the tunes going all night long.
