The biggest shake up in the way we register to vote is underway.

City council officers are parking up at Newman College on Friday to educate Prestonians about the change.

A letter has gone out to everyone in the city as the registration for voting is to be done on an individual basis and not per household.

Council electoral officers will be on the car park of the College on Herschell Street from 11am to 4pm on Friday.

Anyone coming along to find out more needs to bring their national insurance number if they want to check if they are registered to vote.

A campaign to make people aware of the voting changes is being run by the city council, showing the potential impact of not being on the electoral roll:

The roadshow runs from 11am to 4pm on Friday 29 August.

If you can’t make it then visit Aboutmyvote to check whether you are registered.
