Since reopening as Evoque after a refurbishment to convert it from being Lava Ignite.

The club on Church Street has branched out from the usual drinks and tunes to take in wrestling, boxing and salsa events.

It is home to the fast-growing Preston City Wrestling who perform in the venue.

Radio 1 Extra DJs Mistajam and CJ Beatz are to perform for Evoque’s first birthday party.

Venue business development manager¬†Luke Maher said: “How quickly a year goes by. We are pulling out all the stops to celebrate our first birthday.

“Since relaunch we have incorporated wrestling, boxing and salsa events at a weekend showcasing the venue as much more than just a nightclub.”

Saturday 30 August from 10.30pm is the birthday event, and the venue is also gearing up to host a number of events for freshers starting at UCLan from mid-September.

Before becoming Evoque the venue has gone by many names, including Tokyo Jo’s and many more. You might want to take a trip down memory lane with Paul Swarbrick’s piece remembering Preston’s former nightclubs.
