Preston Sikhs to parade through city in honour of First World War heroes

Preston’s Flag Market will come alive on Sunday with the sounds, colours and flavours of the Sikh community in the city.

As part of the remembrance of Sikhs who fought for Britain in the First World War a parade takes place in the city.

A Nagar Kirtan, a Sikh procession, will make its way from Bow Lane based Guru Nanak Gurdwara Singh Sabha.

The procession comes up Fishergate Hill and to the Flag Market.

There will be a welcome address at the Cenotaph as part of the event.

On the Flag Market there will be a bouncy castle, children’s arts and crafts and food stalls.

The event runs from 10am to 4pm.

In May hundreds of sikhs paraded through Preston in a riot of colour and celebration.
