Police van parked on St Stephens’Road, Deepdale on Sunday lunchtime

Police are guarding the scene of a stabbing in Deepdale.

Officers from Preston Police and an ambulance were called to St Stephen’s Road just before midnight on Saturday.

A man has died in the incident, in what police are calling a “knife incident”.

A 20 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, according to a police statement released at 1pm on Sunday.

One local resident, who did not wish to be named, said: “Last night just before midnight two police cars a police van and an ambulance raced up St Paul’s Rd and turned into St Stephen’s Rd. It soon emerged that a stabbing had taken place. A little later two neighbours reported to me that there had been a fatality. Police have been in attendance all night and are still present.”

Shortly after 8am Blog Preston readers reported a forensic tent and police tape, with police officers guarding it, were still on the scene near the corner with St Paul’s Road. The police cordon remains in place.

Police say the incident is suspicious and anyone with information is asked to call 101.
