In pictures: Preston comes alive for community celebration day

The Flag Market in the city centre was the venue for music, dancing and culture as Preston once again put on a show to entertain the crowds.

The Guild Time Capsule was on display and people could bring forward items to go in the capsule.

Preston Mayor Nick Pomfret was on hand to add some official items to the capsule which will be opened again in 2032.

There was also an eclectic mix of music and community celebrations with visitors enjoying everything from men dressed as dancing nuns, shaking their stuff, in what was one of the weirdest performances of the day to Bollywood dancers giving us a taste of India.

There was food and singing too cultural exhibitions to keep the constant stream of curious onlookers entertained. Photographer Paul Melling was on hand to capture these images.
