Frog and Bucket on Lord Street in the city centre has announced it will finish trading in mid-September.
The Frog, which continues in Manchester, had been operating as Preston’s only dedicated comedy club for five years.
A statement released by the club’s operators said: “It’s with massive regret that we are leaving Preston, it’s been a great city to work in and the audiences have been the most fun. It’s an honour to Preston that it’s perceived by comics as one of the best rooms in the country to play. It will be really missed, but it’s time to move on.
“Our last show will be Saturday 13th September with a fantastic line up, Danny McLoughlin, Alex Boardman, Brennan Reece and Vikki Stone followed by a cheesy disco to say farewell. Other shows can be found on www.frogandbucket.com
“Thank you to everyone for all your support. Frog HQ x”
The venue has seen many different names over the years and regular performer Penwortham lad Dan Nightingale led reaction to the closure.
It’s also been a nightclub and pub previously, known to many as The Venue, Coda and Blue Moon.
