Family pay tribute to teenage cyclist who died in New Hall Lane collision

A mother and father have paid tribute to their teenage son who died on Wednesday.

Reece Whitehead, 14, died after a collision with a silver BMW while riding his bike.

A statement released by his family said: “Our loving son, we love you so much, you have gone too soon and it hurts so much.

“We will miss you forever and will never forget the love we all had for each other.

“You’re the number one son and that will never change.

“Your brothers Cameron and Elliott will miss and love you forever, just like us, and so will your nanas, granddads, aunties, uncles, cousins and friends.

“We love you, our number one son all the way to the end.”

The incident happened around 10.15pm where Cairsmore Avenue joins New Hall Lane in Fishwick.

Reece was rushed to hospital but died of his injuries in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Police continue to appeal for information about the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting log number 1540 of August 26th.
