The collision is said to have happened close to the Hesketh Arms pub

A 14 year old boy has died following a fatal collision on New Hall Lane.

Lancashire Police said the local boy, who was on a bike, suffered serious head injuries.

The incident took place around 10.15pm on Tuesday night when a silver BMW 5 series saloon was travelling east along New Hall Lane, Fishwick, towards Brockholes Brow.

The car collided with the cyclist close to the junction with Cairsmore Avenue.

Police and ambulance were called and the boy was taken to Royal Preston Hospital but died in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Sergeantt Gareth Hill, of the Road Policing Unit, said: “This was a tragic incident where a teenager has sadly died and I would appeal for anyone who witnessed this collision or who has any information to contact us.”

Police closed the road by the Hesketh Arms pub in both directions for four hours during the investigation.
