Members of the public reported seeing up to eight police cars, police dogs and the helicopter deployed around Savick and Ashton-on-Ribble.

One member of the public said police were concentrated around West Park Avenue, Birkdale Drive, Ainsdale Drive and Lea Road.

The police helicopter, based at Warton, tweeted to say it had been assisting Lea Police with a search for another wanted person.

It was the second search of the weekend. The first search was for a man wanted on recall to prison, with the police helicopter team tweeting he had been apprehended.

Police say two men have been arrested after the two searches.
