A Preston student is preparing to launch his own takeaway – with a difference.
AdvertisementSweet-toothed Luke Binns decided to put his passion for making cakes and desserts into a business venture.
Binns, who studies law, is now seeking premises to make his Bakeaway a reality – delivering desserts around the city.
He said: “The idea just came into my head one night. I was laid around watching TV wondering why nobody delivered cake, and thus Bakeaway was born.
“I have always been half-decent in the kitchen and since moving to university I have only improved. The stuff I have made so far tastes nice so it’s a good sign.”
Binns has begun shopping around for a premises to open his new takeaway in.
He said: “I will be looking in the city centre areas of Friargate and Market Street. I have also looked at a few properties on Church Street and Plungington, all of which are ideal.”
The student population is important to Luke’s idea, without it he said the market probably wouldn’t be there for it to happen.
He’s now working with the University of Central Lancashire’s crowdfunding project Pushfund to raise money for his idea, and also applying to the StartUp Loans Company.
The 18-year-old, originally from Leeds, is planning to have his takeaway open by September – in time for the arrival of new students in the city.
