New Stairway exhibition at the Harris Museum

From 17 June until 30 August Matt Davies is exhibiting work alongside the stairs at Preston’s iconic Harris Museum.

Artist Matt Davies uses images from newspapers, magazines, and other pieces of research when composing his paintings.

He also relies on the medium of photography to capture a split second moment in time , immortalising that moment in richly applied oil paint, the medium of paint and revealing the tension between the subject matter.

This creates a refreshing painting style that is consumed with influence, contemporary issues and visual culture.

His work achieves a raw immediacy and intuitiveness that is both fresh and intense.

This will be his first solo exhibition in a public gallery.
