The Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre, part of the University of Central Lancashire‘s campus, will see an international sporting match this July.

England play Australia in a pre-Commonwealth Games match and will begin at 2pm with presentations.

The England Table Tennis team journey to Glasgow on July 13th, where they get to experience the Commonwealth Games Village for the first time and get training at the competition venue.

The team will then return home for a short break before competing against Australia in Preston on 20 July, hosted by UCLan and Preston Table Tennis. This is the last stop before they re-enter the Commonwealth Games village and competition beginning in earnest!

The England squad are – men: Andrew Baggaley, Paul Drinkhall, Liam Pitchford, Daniel Reed, Sam Walker; women: Joanna Drinkhall, Hannah Hicks, Tin-Tin Ho, Karina Le Fevre, Kelly Sibley.

Preston hosted a similar fixture just before the Olympics 2012 and it really was fantastic to watch.

Spectators are invited from the community and tickets cost £3 per person.
