Hoax call investigation launched after Broadgate area incident

Lancashire Police have revealed the deployment of armed officers to an address in the Broadgate area was because of a hoax call.

A call was made to the ambulance service, who passed a report to the police, saying somebody had been shot at an address on Beech Terrace, Preston.

The call was made around 5.15pm on Sunday 29 June

A number of police officers, including armed response units, attended and cordoned off the property.

Police say they found no evidence of a disturbance or injury to any part at the address or nearby addresses.

Detectives are now investigating the hoax call.

Anyone with information should call the police on 101.
