Callon Kids Community Club, a local community organisation in Preston, has secured much welcome funding for a trip away and activities for vulnerable children with their families in the east of the city.
The grant was awarded by the Henry Smith Foundation whose funding scheme for trips and holidays is specifically aimed at groups like Callon Kids Community Club who provide social as well as learning opportunities for children outside of the school environment.
The money helps children and parents from 10 individual families to have a five day holiday at Pontin’s Holiday Camp in Southport.
The break is seen as a great opportunity for children to engage with different families – not just from their own neighbourhood. For some it will be their first holiday together.
Callon Kids Community Club was set up to promote safe, effective, child friendly activities for all. It is managed by an elected committee and dedicated volunteers from within the community.
For more information about the club check out their new website. They will be working to add more to the site in the coming weeks.
