Another transformer delivery closes A59 at Penwortham

The delivery of another heavy electricity transformer will close roads in Preston.

A 400 tonne transformer was lifted off the river by specialist barge, the Terra Marique. Now a regular visitor to to Preston.

The A59 at Penwortham will be closed again Sunday morning to allow for delivery – as it is being transported on a trailer more than 73 metres in length.

A small crowd gathered on Saturday afternoon to see the huge transformer driven from the barge onto the bank at Penwortham.
