The Winckley Square Weekender takes place on Preston’s historic Georgian Square but also on the surrounding streets such as Cross, Cannon and Guildhall Street.

It starts from 11am on Friday and the city council are promising a packed two days of activity happening on Winckley Square.

The food at the festival is due to be a highlight with Olive Press owner Paul Heathcote pledging to bring burgers of the world to life in his Square Shack.

A Guild City Stage is going to have live music throughout the day on Friday and Saturday.

Tim Joel, events manager at Preston City Council, said: “There is a real public desire to maintain the spirit of Preston Guild and Winckley Weekend takes a mix of Guild activities and themes and incorporates them into this weekend of festivities.

“Winckley Square, Winckley Street, Guildhall Street, Cannon Street and Cross Street will be thriving and full of colour, music and people and will be alive into the evening for people to enjoy food and drinks.

“The weekend will really highlight the assets of the Winckley area and show off the potential, showcasing an eclectic mix of traders and professional services ahead of the areas upcoming major improvements.”
